Born in Montreal, Canada, Carol earned her undergraduate degree and teacher's degree from McGill University. She received a Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) from the University of Louisville. Having lived in Montreal, San Francisco, Boston, Louisville, Jerusalem, and now Detroit, she has dedicated herself to strengthening Jewish communal life and civic engagement.

Since settling in Detroit, Carol has held leadership roles with numerous organizations, including the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit, Adat Shalom Synagogue, the National Council of Jewish Women, Jewish Senior Life, Jewish Family Service, and Jewish Senior Life of Detroit.

Carol currently serves on the Advisory Council of the Women's Philanthropy Board of Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, the Executive Committee of the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit, and the Jewish Community Relations Committee, Jewish Federation of Detroit. Carol also serves on the boards of Camp Ramah Wisconsin and the Jewish Community Center Association. Carol is actively involved in Magen David Adam Michigan. She also chairs the Community Interfaith Council of Farmington Hills, Michigan, and founded an ongoing longstanding independent women's Jewish study group.

Carol's longstanding volunteer leadership has been recognized with community leadership awards from Hillel Day School, the National Council of Jewish Women, and the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit.
