Zachary Narrett

Zachary felt inspired from the moment he took his first Melton course on Israeli Literature. In a few short years, Zachary has taken more than ten Melton courses, sponsored a Melton three-part seminar on Israel’s situation, and participated in Melton’s Solidarity Mission to Israel in January 2024. As a life-long lover of Jewish learning, Zachary is immensely grateful for the incredible opportunities that Melton offers through study and travel to find new and broader paths of growth, meaning, and connection to Jewish wisdom, tradition, and community.

Zachary worked for many years as an executive speechwriter and taught history at a number of New Jersey colleges. He received his PhD in History from Harvard University, where he wrote a book-length study on the World Disarmament Conference of 1932. He received his Bachelor’s degree with High Honors from Colgate University. His civic involvement has included service on the Board of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities. In addition to Melton, Zachary is an active supporter of the American Jewish Committee, the Jewish National Fund and his local synagogue. Zachary resides with his wife Tova in Montclair, New Jersey.
