OMG, Can You Believe?!
In this six-week exploratory course, we’ll seek answers to the BIG questions around God and God’s relationship to Humankind. Take for yourself a Divine moment to uncover and consider many different understandings of God expressed by Jewish thinkers, past and present. This course will give you the tools to continue asking deep questions, probing your own beliefs and rethinking the “God- questions” that confront us throughout our lives.

The Story of the First Jewish Family (Genesis / Bereshit Part II)
The narrative of this course follows the development of the first Jewish family from the birth of two nations through great wrongdoings and reunions, to the renowned blessing of the grandchildren. Stories of sibling rivalry, wrestling with angels, palace seduction, rape, and reconciliation, provide some of the most dramatic and iconic images that reverberate across the millennia.

Jewish Denominations: Addressing the Challenges of Modernity
This course is a fascinating study of the explosion in contemporary Judaism as reflected in the denominations. A fresh examination of Jewish identity and religious expression against the backdrop of dramatic political and social change of the past 300 years will be uncovered, revealing extensive insights into the historical and ideological developments of the major Movements. The impact of gender, assimilation, Israel, and post-denominationalism will be explored in depth.

Soul's Cycles: A Ride Through the Chapters of Life
Let’s learn about life’s celebrations in tandem with Jewish meaning. Six weeks of putting the pedal to the metal will be sure to fuel your sense of adventure. In this course, we’ll say “L’Chaim!” to Jewish markers of time, rites of passage, and celebratory rituals. En route to the finish line, this course will navigate the winding roads of childhood and adulthood rituals, all while living as Jews in a modern world. Our time together is certain to bring soul to life’s big moments.

Director

Rachelle Weiss CraneRachelle Weiss Crane is a native New Yorker who has been in Dallas, Texas, since 2001. Rachelle has a BA from Barnard College and an MBA from The Columbia University Graduate School of Business. She graduated from the Melton School in Dallas in 2005 and became the PEP Director in Dallas in 2006. She has been Melton Director in Dallas since September 2008. In addition to her Melton and other adult education responsibilities, Rachelle is Producer of both the Dallas Jewish BookFest and Jewish Film Festival of Dallas. Israel Engagement is also part of her portfolio at JCC Dallas. Rachelle has been involved in Jewish education for much of her adult life. She is currently Vice President for Adult Learning and Music, Arts and Culture at Temple Emanu-el Dallas, the largest Reform congregation in the southwestern United States. Rachelle serves on the advisory board of ADL Texoma and on the North American board of Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ). Rachelle and her husband Paul live in north Dallas.

Adina WeinbergAdina Weinberg; Jewish, Cultural, and Outreach Coordinator.
A Dallas, Texas native, Adina Weinberg attended the American Jewish University in Los Angeles where she earned her BA in Jewish Studies and in Literature, Communication, and Media. She participated in the Kesher Chadash program in Jerusalem through the Jewish Theological Seminary, where she became certified in Israel education. She recently returned to Dallas and started at the JCC as the Jewish, Cultural, and Outreach Coordinator. She assists with programs such as the Dallas Jewish Film Festival and Book Festival, the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning, and a new initiative known as the J on Wheels.
