Rochelle Friedman

Rochelle has a B.S and an M.S. Education from SUNY College Buffalo. Her Ed.D in Curriculum, Supervision and Administration is SUNY Buffalo. Although she had committed to two major projects, it was only natural to say yes when in 2000 her rabbi asked her to enroll in the Florence Melton Morasha Adult Education Core Program. It would be about an hour and half drive from Falls Church, VA, to Rockville, MD, but she was committed. She never looked back.

As a “morasha” graduate, she spearheaded a mentorship program for religious school teachers. When she moved to Aiken, SC, she continued to offer that program upon request. Nurturing her own love of Melton, she continued to be involved when possible. She participated in almost every travel seminar, both in Israel and beyond. She was a member of the Friend of Israel Board. She chaired Alumni Ambassadors and in that capacity visited several communities to encourage membership and attended Melton International Director Conferences. She chaired 2016 and 2018. The 2016 Kallah doubled the expected size and resulted in a seminar titled “Within Borders.”

She has been a board member in the synagogues and JCCs in several of the communities where she has lived. She has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Secondary School Principals and President of the Alternative Educators Association.

She and her husband Sid z”/  have two sons and two wonderful daughters-in-law. Sawyer and Sivan make her a proud Bubbie.
