Sherrie Weiss

Sherrie is a Florence Melton Adult Learning graduate from the Community Foundation of Jewish Education in Chicago, having continued her studies through Melton with the Board of Jewish Education of Metropolitan Chicago. She is a retired early childhood educator and resides in Riverwoods, IL, with her husband Albert Weiss. They have 5 children between them and 10 grandchildren.  Her mission to enhance adult Jewish education through Melton is directly related to her belief that “teaching your children” and passing on our Jewish roots is imperative to the perpetuation of the Jewish people.

As a board member of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces, Sherrie co-chaired the effort for raising funds and organizing a program to bring children of fallen soldiers to Chicago for a 2-week camp experience. In response to circumstances in Israel due to the Intifada, Sherrie and her husband developed YeledimB'Yachad, a program to assist at-risk pre-school aged children in Ma'alot. Currently, she serves as co-chair for the Development Committee for Melton International in tandem with her duties as a member of Florence Melton School for Adult Jewish Education Executive Committee.
