Melton Leads the Way with Creating Online Jewish Space for Deep Learning and Community Engagement

 During the early stages of COVID-19 and the initial advent of community closures, Jewish life was upended – challenging the traditions tied to ritual gatherings and the value of bringing people together that have shaped the Jewish people for millennia. The community rose to the challenge, steadfast, in redefining Jewish space in a COVID world. Melton International has been proud to be on the forefront of this growth and reframing of Jewish living.

Every month since the beginning of COVID closures, Melton has brought a series of new online classes to learners around the world. These learning opportunities are a welcome intellectual diversion and help to provide meaning during this challenging time. Through these classes a world-wide community of Melton Learners has taken shape – providing people with a social and educational outlet that is even more vital than they originally thought possible.

Melton has become a virtual house of study for every Melton learner during this time of uncertainty. At the helm of this endeavor is longtime Melton educator and community director, Yael Weinstein, who recently joined the international staff as Melton's Director of Community and Online Learning.

This fall Melton International is proud to be offering ten new Survey Courses. On the docket are courses focusing on Jewish food, prayer, our relationship with other faith traditions and further immersion into Israeli society. We are also delighted to be promoting Melton Signature Courses being hosted online by dozens of our community partners who are eager to welcome learners from all over into their virtual classrooms.
